The Process Of Growing Corn Step By Step!
The process of growing corn is something that you need to learn if you wasnt plenty of fiber in your diet when it comes to vegetable gardening! Ok so im going to give you the basic instructions you need to get those corn stalks popping up like theres no tommorrow.
Follow these simple steps you will have plenty of corn on the cob to eat for many years to come! We will use sweet corn in this example, heres how you do it:
- Clear out a large area for your cornfeild.
- Get some corn seeds. These seeds need to be soaked in water for for at least 24 hours for germination to really get started.
- Corn usually takes around 12 weeks to grow. During this time period your corn needs fun sunlight, rich soil that is well drained, and a whole lot of water during the summer months.
- The reason you need alot of area to grow your corn is because each plant will only produce around 1-2 ears per stalk.
- Around two weeks after the silk appears is when you sweet corn is actually ready for its first picking!
Thats it! You now have your very own little corn feild. Just be sure to watch out for pest and animals in your feilds. we all know how the raccoons are right?
